There’s something magical about summer in Minnesota and Wisconsin—the longer days, the smell of sunscreen, and the endless possibilities. For families with little ones, it’s the best time of year to get outside, slow down, and soak up the simple joys of childhood.
Whether it’s morning splash pad runs, spontaneous picnics at the park, picking flowers and blowing dandelion seeds (my toddler’s favorite!), or watching your kids dig in the sand while sipping on your favorite cold drink—summer is made for memory-making. The pace feels lighter, the options feel endless, and the messes (chalk-stained shirts, muddy toes, sticky fingers) somehow feel more joyful than stressful.
That’s why I chose this season to start Mommin’ Minnesconsin—a space to share the best local spots, hidden gems, and go-to outings across Minnesota and Western Wisconsin. I’m a mom who loves a good adventure but also appreciates a clean bathroom, a shaded park bench, and places where my toddlers can safely roam. If you’re the same, you’re in the right place.
Here you’ll find real-life recs for family-friendly parks, libraries, cafes, nature trails, splash pads, shops, and more—tried, tested, and tot-approved.
So here’s to a summer full of fresh air and sweet moments with our kids!
